Significant Weather Event Ended - Ice Storm Cleanup Continues
The Significant Weather Event declared on March 30, 2025 due to ice formation has ended on April 11, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.
Ice storm cleanup continues
Cleanup continues following the ice storm that occurred this weekend.
Trees and limbs on municipal right of way will be addressed by the Public Works Department.
Yard waste is collected monthly in rural areas in Dufferin County on a call-in basis. To be added to the list, contact GFL at 1-888-941-3345 ext.1 or dufferin@gflenv.com
Collection starts on Monday at 7 am and continues throughout the week until the area is completed. Please note that your yard waste collection may not be the same day as your regular collection day.
Sticks, twigs and small branches:
- Wood bundles should not exceed 1.25 metres (4 feet)
- Secure bundles with twine
- Up to 20 bags/containers/bundles can be placed out for each collection. Plastic bags are not permitted.
Prepare for emergencies. Ensure you have an emergency kit with essential items such as flashlights, batteries, medications, and important documents. Find more information on creating your emergency kit here.
Keep generators away from your home. Never operate a generator in an enclosed space or indoors. To safely operate a generator, place it outdoors at least 20 feet away from your house, doors, windows and any other openings to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
