If the property is regulated by the Nottawasaga Conservation Authority and/or the Niagara Escarpment Commission, written approval/exemption is required for your project prior to being submitted for a building permit:

Step 1: Contact the Township to assist with any questions regarding the Municipal Approval form, fees, permit processes, zoning questions, as well as NEC or NVCA permits (if applicable).
Step 2: Complete your online application, and come into the office to pay your development charges or securities that apply.

Application Review
Application Reviews - Both the Township and the County will review your application. The Township will ensure the proposed project complies with their Official Plan and Zoning Bylaw. The County is looking to ensure that the proposed construction meets the minimum standards of the Ontario Building Code. If there are details missing, you will receive a deficiency notice outlining additional requirements.
Payment
Payment of Fees. Fees are collected by both the Township and Dufferin County.
Permit Issuance
Once an application is acceptable, approved and the fees are paid, the County will issue your permit. You can then print your permit job card and approved drawings from the Portal.
