Township of Mulmur Unveils New Tennis and Pickleball Courts in Mansfield Thanks to $150,000 Ontario Government Grant

Mulmur, ON – On Wednesday, August 28, 2024, the Township of Mulmur celebrated the grand opening of our new tennis and pickleball courts at Thomson Trail Park in Mansfield. The event featured local MPP Sylvia Jones, who joined the community to highlight a $150,000 Capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), which made the project possible.

“The Ontario government, through the Ontario Trillium Foundation, has invested in the construction of new tennis and pickleball courts in Mulmur,” said Sylvia Jones, MPP for Dufferin-Caledon. “This investment will provide residents with more local opportunities to stay active and connected.”

The OTF Capital grant, awarded in September 2023, enabled the Township of Mulmur to expand recreational options by constructing four new courts. As the community grows, so does the demand for diverse ways to stay active, regardless of age or fitness level. These courts offer residents a space for casual and organized play, with pickleball becoming particularly popular among those over 50.

In addition to Sylvia Jones, we were joined by Janet Horner, Mayor of the Township of Mulmur, and Councillors Patty Clark and Andrew Cunningham for the official ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Adding to the day’s excitement, renowned pickleball instructor Jerry Skilton was on site, giving a quick lesson and showcasing his skills in an exhibition game for the enthusiastic crowd.
