Glow and Behold: A Night of Moth Discovery

Step into the hidden world of nocturnal insects during this guided, hands-on evening workshop. Explore moths and other nightactive creatures through light attraction, UV observation, and a short night hike. Working in small teams, participants will use field kits to observe, identify, and document species while learning how to continue exploring responsibly on their own. This interactive outdoor experience includes up to a 2km walk on level terrain and is perfect for curious minds eager to see the night come alive. All ages are welcome; children must be accompanied by an adult. About Your Instructor: Aundrea is a wilderness skills instructor specializing in Wilderness First Aid, survival, bushcraft, and practical backcountry skills. She contributes to global citizen‑science initiatives through groups such as National Moth Week and the Oak Ridges Moraine Land Trust, and she teaches outdoor education at the Mansfield Outdoor Centre. What to Bring: Closed-toed shoes A small flashlight or headlamp Sunglasses (for viewing near UV light setups) Long sleeves and pants you can tuck into socks (dress for the weather and environment) Note: To help protect the insects we’re observing, please avoid heavy use of insect repellent near the light sheets.
