An Afternoon in the Country with Three Top Canadian Authors

Take a fabulous designer barn, add three hot Canadian authors, throw in delicious goodies and wine and you'll have an afternoon of literary goodness.

Authors in the Hills of Mulmur returns to the Foley Barn Sunday, August 25, from 1pm to 4pm for its seventh season. Veteran moderator, Bernadette Hardaker, interviews three acclaimed authors with books that reflect the theme: Hilarious, Heartwarming, Historical - Stories in Unexpected Places.

Two-time Leacock nominee, Rod Carley returns with his fourth theatrical odyssey Ruff packed with an unforgettable cast of Elizabethan eccentrics. It's a madcap world more modern than tomorrow where gender is what a person makes of it (no matter the story beneath their petticoats or tights).

The author of three previous books, Rod has won many awards and was the winner of TVO's Big Ideas for his lecture Adapting Shakespeare Within a Modern Canadian Context. Rod is presently an English professor at Nipissing University & the Artistic Director of Canadore College's Acting for Stage & Screen Program.

Over two million copies sold of the heartwarming mystery novels The Maid and The Mystery Guest prove author Nita Prose a sure winner. Soon-to-be-released The Mistletoe Mystery (this Fall) & The Maid's Secret (2025) continue the story of the surprising hero Molly Gray, a hotel maid who tries to solve another mystery at her workplace, the exclusive Regency Grand Hotel. A former editor who has guided many well-known authors on their journey, Nita surely knows how to tell the best stories.

Historical writer, Natalie Jenner, is the author of the bestselling novels The Jane Austen Society & Bloomsbury Girls. In her hot-off-the press book Every Time We Say Goodbye Natalie takes the reader to post-war Italy & the film world of the 1950's. The Toronto Star calls it a “sophisticated, passionate and poignant story of secrets, sacrifice and true love.” Natalie is a former lawyer, career coach & independent bookstore owner.

Janet Horner Mayor of Mulmur & the founder of Authors in the Hills of Mulmur promises a stellar afternoon - “this event is an opportunity to bring folks together on a sunny afternoon to enjoy the countryside, good books, good food & wonderful company!”

Tickets are $40 including refreshments & are available at BookLore 519-942-3830, The Shelburne Library 519-925-2168 or the Township of Mulmur.

All proceeds go to Honeywood Arena repairs.
