Where to meet: 937341 Airport Road, Mulmur ON. The driveway for this location is unmarked, but is 200m south of the Mansfield Outdoor Center driveway.
NVCA staff will be using electrofishing equipment, which pulses electricity into the water to attract fish out of cover habitat. We need your help netting them!
We then measure, identify and weigh the fishes before returning them to the river. This is a fun activity and will teach you a lot about fish and their habitat.
Volunteer Requirements
Volunteers will be trained and outfitted with chest waders and safety equipment. We ask that volunteer be 14yrs old or older. Those with pacemakers or heart conditions will be unable to participate in netting but are welcome to help us measure fish.
Please wear close toed shoes and pants. We encourage you to pack plenty of water and snacks/lunch. If you have a pair of polarized glasses they may be useful.
Please bring:
Long pants, socks and close-toed shoes
Water, snacks/lunch
Hat & sunscreen
*Polarized sunglasses (if you do not have them, a few are available)
