Let plant some trees that will sequester carbon and shade the river for generations to come!
About this event
Come out to help plant native trees and shrubs along the banks of the Pine River near Mansfield and Creemore! These trees will sequester carbon from the atmosphere, the roots will stabilize the soil and the branches will one day shade the river.
Individuals, families and community groups are welcome!
What to expect
- An orientation and tree planting tutorial
- Tree seedlings and shovels
- 3hrs of planting
- An email a few days before the event with the location and a volunteer waiver form to sign
This event will take place rain or shine but will be rescheduled if there is extreme weather.
Remember to Bring
- Closed toed shoes/rubber boots (SPRING IS MUDDY!)
- Long pants
- Weather appropriate clothes (rain coat, hat, etc)
- Sunscreen/bugspray
- Water, Lunch, Snack
- Work gloves if you have them (extras are available)
Students:
Remember to bring your community service volunteer form!
Where to Meet: The site is off of Airport Road near Mansfield. The exact property location will be emailed to you a few days before the event.
